Math Tutoring
Most math struggles start earlier than the current chapter. I find the actual gap, then rebuild from there — elementary through pre-calculus.
Why your student is stuck usually isn’t today’s lesson
Math is cumulative in a way other subjects aren’t. A student failing Algebra 1 is often carrying a gap in fractions or negative numbers from three years earlier — and no amount of re-explaining this week’s chapter will fix that.
So the first thing I do is find where the foundation actually broke. Then we rebuild from there, and the current work starts making sense on its own.
What we can work on
I work from your materials
In school?
Send me the textbook and the current unit, and I’ll build lessons that line up with what’s being graded.
Homeschooling?
Send me the table of contents or a photo of the next few lessons and I’ll build around your curriculum.
Gradual release: I do, we do, you do
It’s the model behind most well-designed curricula, and it’s what one-on-one time is uniquely good at. A classroom teacher paces for the average student. I don’t.
I Model It
Before a student tries a problem, I model one out loud — explaining the steps and the thinking behind each decision.
We Work Through It Together
We solve a problem side by side. I guide with questions rather than answers — catching mistakes before they get practiced and baked in.
They Work Independently
The student works independently while I observe. Real understanding shows up when they can execute without support — and I'm right there if something breaks down.
Real math growth
These aren’t averages or estimates — they’re outcomes from my students.
A student moved from fractions to pre-algebra with structured weekly support.
After targeted instruction focused on identified skill gaps, a student improved from 68% to 90% on reassessment.
In just one month of tutoring, a student raised their grade equivalent from 4.9 to 8.5.
“Our son began to grow by leaps and bounds. He’s now enjoying math under her leadership.”Hannah A., Homeschool Parent
