Reading, Writing & Grammar Tutoring
The subject parents most often tell me they don’t know how to teach.
One-on-one support in reading comprehension, writing, grammar, and spelling — built around what your student is already working on, whether that’s a school assignment or your homeschool curriculum.
The rules become teachable when students can see the thinking
Math has a right answer you can check. Writing doesn’t — which is why it’s the easiest subject to fall behind in without anyone noticing. A student reads, but not closely. Writes, but can’t say why a sentence is wrong.
I make that invisible thinking visible. Students learn how to find evidence in a passage, recognize what makes a sentence unclear, and apply grammar rules with a reason behind each choice.
- Reading comprehension
- Sentence structure and revision
- Grammar, punctuation, and usage
- Spelling
- Evidence-based paragraph writing
- SAT and ACT English foundations
I do, we do, you do
The same structured approach I use for math works just as well for English.
I model how I’d work through a passage or fix a sentence out loud, including how I decide what matters.
We work through one together, using questions and evidence to make each choice clear.
Your student applies the process independently while I watch, guide, and catch gaps.
Top-percentile English and reading expertise
I scored 35 on ACT English and 34 on ACT Reading — 97th–99th percentile nationally — and I teach the same grammar and comprehension rules that appear on the SAT and ACT.
